Daniel Lioneye (H.I.M. side project) need a music video and are tasking their fans to create one for them. The band have launched a music video contest for the songs “I Have Never Wanted To Be Number One” and “Euroshaman.” Go to the contest page www.redmusic.com/lioneyevideo for directions on how to download the songs, lyrics, and where to upload your video once you’re done. One Grand Prize winner will recieve a white Gibson SG guitar (that was used by Linde while on tour with H.I.M.), a $500 AMEX gift card, and an autographed copy of Vol. II.

Formed in 2001, Daniel Lioneye’s debut album, The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, was only released in Finland and Germany and was a “tongue in cheek” psychedelic stoner rock album. Earning the group quite a bit of attention, the band played at handful of festivals in Finland which resulted in the title track being the theme song for Bam Margera’s TV show, Viva La Bam. Simply called VOL. II, the band’s North American debut is heavier than the band’s prior release, making it an extreme, yet melodic, rock n’ roll album influenced by black metal.

The End Records is proud to announce the worldwide release of VOL. II from Daniel Lioneye (on Warner Bros. Records in Finland), the side project from members of HIM, on April 27th. Consisting of Linde (HIM) on guitars, bass and vocals, Burton (HIM) on keyboards and Bolton (Enochian Crescent) on drums, the band has always embraced breaking boundaries and taking new directions, which is exactly what they did on their sophomore release.

The first song available for listening on the band’s Myspace page is “I Have Never Wanted To Be Number One“. Linde had the following to say about the song… “This is no doubt the most accessible song on the album and believe it or not it was written about 5 years ago. It was meant to be an acoustic ballad but this album is not about acoustic ballads so we started to fuck around with it. At first I thought that it sticks out a bit too much from the rest of the stuff and wasn’t sure if I should include it. It sounded too serious and stiff to me. Then Burton came in with his 80′s keys and we added the blast beat part in the end and it changed my mind. Lyrically I guess it is about moving on. But it kind of raises more questions than gives answers and I like to keep it that way.”

VOL. II Tracklisting:

2. Flatlined
3. Saturnalia
4. Neolithic Way
5. I Saw Myself
6. The Mentat
7. I Have Never Wanted To Be Number One
8. Who Turned The Lights Out

Universal Republic Records’ compelling new rock brigade, We Are The Fallen, will release their debut album Tear The World Down on May 11th, 2010. The iconic band has already uncorked their scorching first single, ‘Bury Me Alive,’ making it available exclusively for the digital domain in the beginning of February.

The formidable five-some is comprised of the original members of multi-platinum trailblazing band Evanescence, guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt along with drummer Rocky Gray, joined by breakout American Idol finalist Carly Smithson on vocals. Acclaimed bassist Marty O’Brien (Disturbed and Static-X, among others) rounds out We Are The Fallen’s unique sound.

The group will be making their live performance debut at Kings College in London on March 23 and has also lined up one of the spring’s most anticipated rock tours, gearing up for their debut U.S. road trek in support of Finnish rock band H.I.M., which rolls out later this month. The 28 city tour launches in Philadelphia, PA, on March 26th, crashing multiple major cities such as Boston, MA, on March 28th, Cleveland, OH, on April 1st, Chicago, IL on April 9th, Los Angeles, CA on April 23rd, and winding down in New York City on May 7th.

Moody left platinum-plus breakthrough rock act Evanescence in 2003 and has since co-written major hits for Chris Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson among others. Evanescence’s groundbreaking 2003 album, Fallen, spent an incredible 43 weeks on the Billboard Top Ten Albums Chart, selling 15 million copies worldwide and 7 million + albums in the U.S. alone.

For Smithson, We Are The Fallen fulfills her destiny as one of rock’s most potent new female voices. She first turned heads as one of American Idol’s more engaging rock candidates, landing a controversial sixth place slot during Season 7 of the landmark television series, but not before gaining traction as one of the show’s most original and uncompromising new talents. The powerful vocalist’s ‘elimination’ sent shockwaves through the ‘Idol’ blogger nation, with her acclaimed performances on the 2008 American Idol Tour cementing her current reputation as a force to be reckoned with – possessing a riveting rock presence that is second to none.

Los Angeles bands’ Dommin and Drive A will also be joining We Are The Fallen and H.I.M.

Iconic Finnish rockers HIM have just released a new video for “Heartkiller,” the first single off their upcoming album Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice. The new album, which was produced by Matt Squire (The Used, Saosin, All Time Low), will be the HIM’s seventh full length record over their 13 year career.

HIM frontman Ville Valo recently sat down with Metal Hammer magazine to discuss the forthcoming album saying, “Lyrically, it’s the most sexual [album], the most horny one, we’ve ever made. The horny and the horned. Like the IMPALED NAZARENE song. It’s got that and a sense of immediacy: ‘I want it now, now, now.’ It’s not about being poetic or forlorn about something that is about to happen, it’s actually about something that is happening at this very moment in time.”

He added, “I like the immediacy of it. There’s a lot of information put in short songs and they don’t let go. That was the whole vibe for me. You should have seen me working the vocals out in the middle of the night, amongst my taxidermy owls in the tower screaming my guts out, unable to stop until 9:00 a.m. and then sleeping on a couch for two hours before starting again. So the whole process of the album is very close to that mental boner that just didn’t go away.”

Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice will hit stores in the U.S. on February 9th. For more information on HIM, visit their official site at www.heartagram.com.
