ROCK ON THE RANGE is celebrating its Fifth Anniversary! America’s premier destination rock festival–May 21-22at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio–will feature a spectacular lineup of rock heavyweights including A Perfect Circle (first performance of 2011), Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Korn, Stone Sour and Staind (first performance in two years). The unforgettable weekend will also be highlighted by performances from Danzig, Hollywood Undead, Bullet For My Valentine, Black Label Society and Alter Bridge. In addition, Juliya of Fuse TV will return as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event.

“Three years ago my other band Ashes Divide was fortunate enough to play Rock On The Range as a support act; to return to the same festival and headline this year with A Perfect Circle is truly an honor,” says Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle.

“We are honored that Rock On The Range has asked us be one of the headliners,” says M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold. “Not only is it an amazing show to be apart of, but it holds a deep spot in our hearts. Rock On The Range was the last American show we played with our best friend and drummer, The Rev. We are looking forward to continuing his legacy of rock n roll insanity that night! See you all there.”

“If you suffer from stimulus overload, the fifth anniversary of Rock On The Range may be too much for you,” quips Del Williams, co-executive producer of the event for Right Arm Entertainment. “Virtually all of the bands that make up the top of the Active Rock charts are performing at America’s biggest Rock festival. When you look at the acts on the bill, and think of the massive list of songs that live in the body of that lineup, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with excitement.”

The ROCK ON THE RANGE celebration will start early on Friday night, May 20 with the nation’s biggest pre-festival Anniversary Party at the venue, featuring performances from two of the world’s craziest throwback rock artists–Steel Panther and Lez Zeppelin. Best of all, your ticket to the Anniversary Party will be absolutely FREE with every ROCK ON THE RANGE weekend ticket purchase!

“It seems like only yesterday that we created this vision for an active rock festival in the heartland, but it’s actually been five years now.” comments Joe Litvag, co-executive producer of the event for AEG Live. “If it weren’t for the loyal fan base of active rock fans, the ‘Rangers,’ Rock On The Range would still just be an idea on the back of a napkin! We can’t think of a better way to say ‘thank you’ then to throw a big FREE party for everyone! It will be a night of unmatched celebration!”

A special ROCK ON THE RANGE ticket pre-sale will take place from Wednesday, February 9 at 10:00 AM (ET) through Friday, February 11 at 10:00 PM (ET). This coming Tuesday December 7th, Hinder releases their new album All American Nightmare. The album is the follow-up to their best selling albums Take It To The Limit and Extreme Behavior. We recently had a chance to catch up with drummer Cody Hanson and talk about the new album, working with Kevin Churko and a possible name for Hinder’s beer. Check it all out below and when you’re done reading, find out how you can win an AUTOGRAPHED ALL AMERICAN NIGHTMARE CD!

The band’s sound seemed to go in a different direction on your last album Take It to the Limit compared with Extreme Behavior. Which of your previous albums do you think All American Nightmare sounds closer to?

If I had to answer one i guess I would say Extreme Behavior. However, All American Nightmare is really nothing like either of them. This album is completely different from anything that we’ve ever done in the past.

Why did the band choose to work with producer Kevin Churko on All American Nightmare?

We knew that we needed to go in a different direction with this one. We had several calls and meetings with different producers and Kevin seemed to understand what we were going for right away.

Your albums always seem to have at least one ballad that stays on the radio for several months and one supercharged rocker that rips in your live performances. Does that occur on this album as well and which songs are they?

This is a very musically diverse album. The heavier songs are heavier and there are more of them. But at the same time, we have the melodic mid tempos, some specialty songs, and a couple of ballads as well.

The band partnered up with Nascar in a promotion a few years ago where you covered “Born To Be Wild.” Who’s your favorite Nascar driver and have you guys done any racing of your own?

I’m not sure that any of us could name a favorite. We’ve never done any racing on a track. But, when I was younger my dad and I built a 1953 Chevy truck and he has a 1967 Chevelle that we used to take out and race each other sometimes. Good times.

The deluxe version of the album has three extra songs and a music video. Two of the songs are demo versions of “Put That Record On” and “What Ya Gonna Do.” How are these songs different from the other versions on the standard album and were they recorded with a different producer?

We thought it would be cool for people to hear what the songs sounded like before we took them into the actual studio. We recorded those versions in the back of our bus on the last tour of that album
cycle. A good friend ours, Marshal Dutton, and myself setup a small mobile studio and tracked close to 50 songs back there. It was a lot of work in a small space but it ended up working out great

If there could be a beer inspired by the band Hinder, what would it be called?

Bald Bush Beer

Anything else you’d like to say, confess to or rant about?

We just want to say thanks to all of our friends for supporting us through both albums. We have been working on All American Nightmare for almost 2 years now and we are extremely excited to get it out there and see everyone thinks. We really hope everyone decides to go pick it up
on Dec 7!
