“The year’s break-out dance pop act…” – New York Times

“…obsession with the past is a healthy one, as the crisp recording quality gives classic sounds a modern punch.”
- NPR Music

“…emotionally satisfying synth pop” – Stereogum

First partnering in 2009, Green Label Sound released Holy Ghost!’s single, “I Will Come Back,” followed by remixes from the late DJ Mehdi and GLS-alum Classixx. The band approached Green Label Sound this time around wanting to give a nod to one of their favorite 80′s bands.

The video, out later this year, will see the band also paying homage to the iconic 80′s BMX film, Rad. See a teaser for that video here and follow Green Label Sound’s Facebook and Twitter for more info and a chance to win tickets for each of the remaining tour dates.

Holy Ghost! spent the better part of 2010 on the road with the likes of LCD Soundsystem and Chromeo. In 2011, they shifted into high gear, with the release of their eponymous debut LP in April on DFA Records, thrilling the longtime fans of their ubiquitous singles and remixes. Album tracks like “Do It Again”, “Wait & See”, and most recently “Some Children” (feat. Michael McDonald) have been mainstays on the blogosphere and probably every party you went to over the last 6 months.

Now Holy Ghost! are releasing their latest single, crowd favorite “Hold My Breath” co-written with Austrian DJ buddy Wolfram. Out October 17, the single EP will feature remixes from Tiger & Woods, Cosmic Kids & Falty DL. There is also an accompanying music video, which falls in line with their ever-growing catalogue of stellar videos. Collaborating again with director and close friend Ben Fries (read Pitchfork’s Director’s Cut of “Wait & See”) this latest video is a funny and sentimental look into the personal lives of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel. You can check out the video premiere on RollingStone.com or below.

After opening for the aforementioned Chromeo and LCD Soundystem tours last year and also supporting Cut Copy this spring, the band are now heading out on their first ever headline tour in the US. They are being joined on the road by Jessica 6, Midnight Magic and Eli Escobar on various dates, and everything kicks off right before Halloween with an already sold-out show at Bowery Ballroom.

Holy Ghost! are ready to kick off an extended touring schedule for the next few months and what better way to say bon voyage than by sharing their track “Some Children” featuring the lord of Yacht Rock, Mr. Michael McDonald. The track is available to fans for an email swap or a “like” on Facebook, which can be done HERE. There is also an amazing accompanying video illustrated by Adam Fuchs that was created in collaboration with Adult Swim.

“Some Children” Premiere on Rolling Stone

Watch the Video w/ Adult Swim HERE

Brother of drummer Jerry Fuchs, Adam is part of the DFA extended family and was thrilled to make the video. Fuchs explains that he, Nick and Alex “have been talking about doing an animated video for a while now. When I first heard the beginning of “Some Children” I knew right away I wanted to do imagery going in and out of clouds. The song has a great ‘holy’ feel to it, and it felt right to go in that direction. I really wanted to play off of Michael McDonald’s voice and have an image that would represent him as God, but also not be taken so literally. The Adult Swim thing came about, because Nick and Alex are big fans, and wanted to be involved in some way. I approached my bros at Adult Swim with the concept I had, and they loved it.”

And this fall marks Holy Ghost!’s FIRST EVER headlining tour in the US in support of their recently release and much-adored debut album Holy Ghost!. Today sees the DFA release of the Wait & See Remix EP from Holy Ghost!, featuring remixes by Moby, CFCF, Flight Facilities, Kris Menace and Richard X. Head over here to grab the free MP3 for CFCF’s remix of “Wait & See!” The band is also excited to announce their involvement in this summer’s first Identity Festival, an electronic touring festival that will touch down at outdoor amphitheaters from coast to coast. The band will join artists such as Pretty Lights, Rusko, Disco Biscuits, Skrillex, DJ Shadow, The Crystal Method, and many, many more on the tour! Check below to see which cities the Identity Festival will be touching down in this summer.

There are certain songs that are so very good, that the only singular word that accurately describes them is “satisfying.” “Wait & See” is one of those: an aural pleasure that scratches an itch and hits the spot so precisely, it almost feels like self-denial not to listen on repeat. On Holy Ghost!’s latest EP, the absurdly catchy single from their self-titled 2011 debut gets a makeover from five of dance music’s titans: CFCF, Flight Facilities, Moby, Kris Menace and Richard X. And while this batch of remixes finds the artists behind each track steering in new directions, each finds a way to capitalize on the irresistible danceability of the original.

In Moby’s case, that process begins with a newly included guitar riff, an ominous synth and a hint of the familiar keyboard line; the song lies in wait before being overtaken by intense, swelling synthesized strings and percussion that hits like a kick. Australia’s Flight Facilities pump up the rhythm and energy, resting everything on a disco-funk bassline so flawless in both its selection and placement, it feels like perfection. CFCF start with a more fluid, laidback feel- think lazing synths and crowd-rousing drums, and then insert deep electro bass alongside the circular, swimming keys.

Richard X takes a synth heavy turn, delivering a remix that feels like very essential (electro)pop. Producer Kris Menace’s Vocal Re-interpretation boils the vocals down to the party essentials, cutting straight to the hooky chorus and keeping all four beats squarely on the floor. And his straightforward redux snips even deeper, offering a voiceless instrumental to keep the night going.

DFA presents both a vinyl and digital version of this very necessary EP for dance music fans. The physical release contains the Holy Ghost! original, Kris Menace’s Vocal Re-Interpretation, and remixes from CFCF and Richard X. Included in the digital release are all of the aforementioned tracks, as well as contributions from Moby, Flight Facilities and Menace’s instrumental remix.

Holy Ghost! just released their debut album and wrapped a national tour with their Aussie pals Cut Copy, but in no way does that mean the party is winding down for the duo. They’ll be headlining a sold out homecoming show at Music Hall of Williamsburg this Friday, the 29th while gearing up for a slew of European shows before heading back to the States. If you are already feeling your Holy Ghost! withdrawals, their latest music video for the single “Wait & See” can get you through.

The latest video follows the two through a familiar-feeling New York backdrop, but this time with a very interesting twist. Alex Frankel explains, “for a long time Nick and I joked that our dads should take our press photos. At some point our go-to director, Ben Fries, came up with the idea of actually making a video with them playing us and “Wait and See” seemed like the perfect song to do it for. At first both Dads were a little apprehensive – and rightfully so: My dad was appalled at the sizing options at American Apparel. But when we explained that the joke wasn’t on them – that it was actually kind of making fun of us getting older and still living like teenagers – they were game. For the record, they agree: We need to grow up.”

When bringing up the idea with their dads, the first thought Alex’s father Bruce Frankel had was “Would I what?” The elder Frankel recently penned a book* which recounts stories on taking risks later in life so decided to do just that. Bruce details that “the night before the shoot, Alex played a few bars of the song and asked me to sing along. As soon as I began, he stopped playing, got quiet, put his head in his hands, and — as if I wasn’t already terrified enough — he muttered, ‘I forgot.’ He didn’t look hopeful either when he left me with loops to listen to and practice lip synching to the beat. After he left, I spent hours listening and singing along, trying to stoke my never-much-used-inner-rock-star delusions. The next morning, things got very real when I saw a sleepy-eyed Tim (Nick’s dad), dressed in a leather jacket and ready to be led to slaughter, I knew there was no retreat. He said something comforting, like, ‘I’m just glad I’m not you.’”

And now the final project is ready for viewing! Nick and Alex are very proud of their latest video and their dads are very proud of them!

Holy Ghost!’s already ubiquitous track “Do It Again” is an amazing intro to the band’s catchy-as-hell self-titled debut album. The 10-song LP will include a few guest appearances from the likes of Luke Jenner from the Rapture, Chris Glover from Penguin Prison, and Michael McDonald…and yes, it is that Michael McDonald!

Known around the globe for their party starting singles and their unparalleled ability to get bodies moving on the dancefloor, Holy Ghost! have developed from an in demand DJ duo to a full live band crafting disco-tinged pop songs that satisfy equally on the dancefloor and in a car. “I didn’t want to limit myself to making an album that could only be played in clubs,” says Alex. Nick adds, “We were trying to make something that people would want to listen to front to back at home.”

After successful tours last year with LCD Soundsystem and Chromeo, the band will be heading out on a US tour with pals Cut Copy to bring their sounds of future pop to the masses. And these are not guilty pleasure pop tunes…Holy Ghost! makes pop cool.

Holy Ghost! is kicking off their North American tour with Chromeo today, so in celebration, we wanted to share the official video for “I Know, I Hear” from their recently released EP, Static on the Wire. The guys shot the awesomely funky black & white, surveillance-style video at their rehearsal space in Brooklyn – keep your eyes peeled for a cameo from their good friend Caroline Polachek, who collaborates vocally on this amazing tune!

It’s been a whirlwind few months for Holy Ghost! – besides dropping their critically-acclaimed, can’t-get-those-songs-out-of-my-head debut EP on May 18th via DFA Records, the band headed out on the road supporting LCD Soundsystem on their national tour, then made their way overseas for gigs in the UK and Europe, hitting several festivals along the way.

Now they’re gearing up to do it all over again, heading out for another tour of North America with Chromeo and Telephoned, as well as a high-profile show on August 4th at Central Park SummerStage with Hercules and Love Affair and Hot Chip. Below, please find all upcoming tour dates, including some recently announced shows, including DJ sets alongside A-Trak and DJ Mehdi, and live band shows in Chicago and Salt Lake City.
