Paul McCartney To Perform Live from Capitol Studios Thursday Night

Paul McCartney will commemorate the release of his forthcoming Kisses On The Bottom (out February 7 on Hear Music/Concord) with a once in a lifetime free streaming performance taking place live at 7:00 p.m. PST Thursday, February 9, from the famed Capitol Studios where much of the new album was created. Fans can watch the intimate concert through iTunes on their Mac or PC.

Kisses On The Bottom is a collection of standards Paul grew up listening to, as well as two brand new McCartney compositions “My Valentine” and “Only Our Hearts” (which feature guest turns, respectively, from Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder). Recorded with the aid of Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma and Diana Krall and her band–who will back Paul for the Capitol live stream event–Kisses On The Bottom is a deeply personal journey through songs that, in some cases, a young Paul first heard his father perform on the family piano.

The February 9 Capitol Studios streaming event will be the first time ever that the reverent and adventurous performances of Kisses On The Bottom will be brought to life in a live setting.

Coldplay’s New Album Mylo Xyloto Out On iTunes Now

Coldplay’s highly anticipated 5th studio album, Mylo Xyloto, is now available on iTunes. Mylo Xyloto is also available in CD and vinyl formats, and as a special edition Pop-Up album. It was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green, and Rik Simpson, with enoxification and additional composition by Brian Eno. Fans can hear clips from both side A and B of Mylo Xyloto in two video trailers the band have posted on their YouTube channel.

Last week the band premiered the video for “Paradise” the first single off of Mylo Xyloto. The video was directed by Mat Whitecross and was filmed in South Africa and London. The video can be seen here: http://youtu.be/1G4isv_Fylg.

American Express, in partnership with VEVO and YouTube, announced today its full roster of exclusive fan experiences and enhanced digital features for Grammy® award-winning rock band Coldplay’s performance within the “American Express Unstaged” music series. The show will be streamed globally as a live VEVO event on YouTube from one of Spain’s most famous arenas, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, at 4:00PM ET / 1:00PM PT on Wednesday, October 26 at www.YouTube.com/ColdplayVEVO with special guest, artist Fedde Le Grand.
A first for the “American Express Unstaged” music series, Coldplay’s performance will showcase various opportunities, including an opportunity for fans to create butterflies to be featured in a visually stunning art installation during the show, a takeover of several HD screens in Times Square, New York City, and an exclusive contest for one fan to win tickets to an upcoming Coldplay concert. The global event will come just two days after Coldplay’s critically-acclaimed fifth studio album, MYLO XYLOTO (Capitol Records), hits stores. “American Express Unstaged” has featured such recognized musicians, paired with well-known directors, including Arcade Fire with Terry Gilliam, John Legend & The Roots with Spike Lee, Sugarland with Kenny Ortega, Duran Duran with David Lynch, and My Morning Jacket with Todd Haynes.

The band have also launched a personalized album artwork application on http://coldplay.com/mx.html, where fans can create their own Mylo Xyloto artwork using their initials. Once it is created fans are encouraged to post it on their Twitter and Facebook with the #ColdplayMX hashtag.

Coldplay To Release One Song A Day From Mylo Xyloto On iTunes

iTunes is now exclusively streaming one song from Coldplay’s upcoming album Mylo Xyloto, each day leading up to the album’s release on October 24th. The week of free song streams from the album kicks off with “Princess of China (feat. Rihanna)” today. Fans can also pre-order Mylo Xyloto on iTunes now and the single “Paradise” will begin downloading immediately. Mylo Xyloto will be available in digital, CD, and vinyl formats and as a special limited edition Pop-Up album. It was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green, and Rik Simpson, with enoxification and additional composition by Brian Eno.

The band have also released a “sneak peak” sampler video for Side A of the new album here: http://youtu.be/evVwpm1YQlo. The sampler features clips of the single, “Paradise” as well as the songs “Hurts Like Heaven,” “Charlie Brown,” “Us Against the World,” “M.M.I.X.,” and “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.”

The official video for single “Paradise” is set to premiere later in the week. Fans can check out a few teaser photos from the video shoot on the band’s Facebook and Twitter.

“Coldplay reaches for the heavens on ‘Paradise,’ a majestic preview of the band’s fifth album,” said People Weekly, putting the track on its “Hot Singles” list. “‘Paradise’ is a far moodier affair than previous single ‘Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,’ with dramatic strings and chords and just the right touch of melancholy for the onset of the fall season,” observed Idolator.com. “Paradise” and “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,” the album’s first single, have already sold nearly a million downloads combined.

Coldplay will be celebrating the October 24th release of Mylo Xyloto with a series of U.S. TV appearances. The band will appear on “The Colbert Report” (10/19), “Today” (10/21) and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (10/27). On November 12th, Coldplay will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

As part of the Unstaged Concert Stream in Madrid on 10/26, American Express is inviting Coldplay fans to take part in a global collaboration. Deftones’s Diamond Eyes Named iTunes Rock Album Of The Year

Deftones’ “Diamond Eyes” has been named “Rock Album of the Year” by the iTunes Store. One of the most influential forces in modern rock, Deftones released “Diamond Eyes” on May 4th, 2010. Bowing at No. 6 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, the sixth full-length studio effort by the Grammy-winning group was produced and mixed by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Coheed & Cambria, Foo Fighters). The band recorded the album after their best friend and bassist Chi Cheng sustained a debilitating brain injury from a car accident in November of 2008. “After Chi’s accident, it would have been easy for us to make a sad record,” says singer and guitarist Chino Moreno. “But really, this is an optimistic record.”
