On October 3, 2012, music stars and friends will join together to celebrate the life and music of Levon Helm at “Love for Levon.” The star-studded benefit concert will take place at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey and will feature once-in-a-lifetime collaborations by friends and admirers gathered together to celebrate and honor Levon Helm. Performances will include GRAMMY, CMA, ACM, Americana and Dove Award-winning musicians: John Mayer, My Morning Jacket, Ray LaMontagne, Eric Church, Gregg Allman, Dierks Bentley, Marc Cohn, Patty Griffin, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt, Bruce Hornsby, Jorma Kaukonen, The Levon Helm Band, Robert Randolph, Mavis Staples, Joe Walsh, Lucinda Williams and more performers to be announced shortly. Tickets go on sale to the general public Wednesday, August 29 with an exclusive presale for Citi Card holders beginning tomorrow. All net proceeds from the concert will help support the lasting legacy of Levon Helm by helping his estate keep ownership of his home, barn and studio, and to continue The Midnight Ramble Sessions.

“We are deeply moved that so many musicians and friends of Levon’s are coming together to celebrate his life and his music, and to help us keep his musical spirit and vision alive in the Midnight Rambles,” said Sandy and Amy Helm, Levon’s wife and daughter. “We want to continue to honor his legacy by creating a musical landmark at the Barn, one that inspires and celebrates Americana music and its heritage.”

“We are honored to produce a benefit concert that pays tribute to a musical icon and a beautiful soul, commented show producer Keith Wortman. “Levon’s friends and fans will be coming from all over the world to be part of music history for such a noble and worthy cause to ‘Save The Barn,’ and ensure that the legacy of Levon Helm will live on for generations to come.”

An all-star band will be led by GRAMMY Award-winners Don Was and Larry Campbell who will serve as co-musical directors. Larry was Levon’s musical director for the last several years of his life. The concert event will be produced by Keith Wortman, who most recently produced “We Walk the Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash.” Tisha Fein will serve as talent producer. The show promoters are Ron Delsener and Jim Glancy, long-time friends of Levon. The event will be produced with the support of the Helm Family and Levon Helm Productions.

With a career that spanned over five decades, Levon Helm was an inspiration to musicians around the world with his deep respect, joy and love for music. Whether he was hitting the Arkansas 4-H Club circuit as a child, to performing with Bob Dylan, garnering success with The Band and nurturing a successful solo career, that included multiple GRAMMY Award wins, Levon was always a passionate performer who captivated audiences with an unmistakable voice and rhythmic power all his own. His Levon Helm Studio has hosted musicians across multiple genres and his creation of The Midnight Ramble Sessions, a series of live performances at his studio, has seen performances from the likes of Elvis Costello, Kris Kristofferson, The Black Crowes and My Morning Jacket, to name just a few.

Seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician John Mayer has canceled his recently announced U.S. tour and will take an indefinite hiatus from live performing due to the return of the granuloma in his throat. Mayer was treated for the same condition and placed on extensive vocal rest in 2011. The 18-city tour was to be his first in the United States in two years. Ticket purchasers should refer to their point of purchase for refund details.

His new album Born and Raised will be released as planned by Columbia Records on May 22, 2012. The album’s first single—“Shadow Days”—debuted March 5 and is available on iTunes.

“Nothing feels worse than having to break the stage down before the performance, and I mean nothing. I love this band you were going to hear, I love the guys and girls I work with, and the only thing that stops me from devolving into a puddle of tears is knowing that it’s a long life, and the greatest gift in the world is being able to create music no matter what the circumstances,” wrote Mayer to fans via his tumblr blog earlier today.

American icon Tony Bennett is celebrating his 85th birthday this year with a new album, “Tony Bennett: Duets II” which will be released on September 20th onRPM/Columbia Records. Bennett began the live recording process with several artists during Grammy week in February at LA’s famed Capital Studios. “Duets II”produced by Phil Ramone follows up “Tony Bennett Duets: An American Classic” CD, the 2006 Grammy winning best selling CD which became Bennett’s best selling recording to date.

Alone Tony Bennett is legendary. In partnership with another singer, he’s extraordinary. A sterling all-star roster will join Tony in the studio including Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, John Mayer, Natalie Cole, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Josh Groban, Queen Latifah, and Aretha Franklin. Some of country’s biggest names will also join the round-up including Faith Hill, Willie Nelson and Carrie Underwood. From the international pantheon: angel-voiced tenor Andrea Bocelli from Italy and Latino singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz from Spain. Michael Bublé and k.d. lang who were both featured on the original album returned for “Duets II”. All duets were recorded live in the studio with Bennett.

“I love the Great American songbook and have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to introduce many of these songs to the public…It is a thrill to perform them once again with artists that I admire to create new interpretations of the music I love so much,” says Bennett.

The US and international recording sessions for “Duets II” were filmed by Academy award winning cinematographer Dion Beebe (“Chicago,” “Memoirs Of A Geisha”, “Collateral”) and are being unveiled in conjunction with the new album, providing an in depth study of Bennett’s creative and artistic process.

One of the album’s most notable tracks is “Body and Soul”, a duet between Tony and the late Amy Winehouse recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. The song is one of her last works, and is slated for release as a single on September 14th via iTunes. All proceeds from the sale of the song will go to The Amy Winehouse Foundation, an organization set up by the singer’s family to provide support for young people suffering from substance abuse.

Also Bennett is scheduled to make his debut appearance at the Metropolitan Opera House on September 18. The concert will feature pop standards from the Great American Songbook, many of which Bennett has introduced and recorded to critical and popular acclaim that led to a string of greatest hits over his 60-year career. “I’ve been practicing my whole life to perform on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House,” Bennett said. “It’s a dream come true.”
