MASTODON have posted a live video of their new single “Dry Bone Valley.” The performance was shot live at London’s Brixton Academy – the band’s biggest UK headlining show to date in front of a sold-out manic crowd. View “Dry Bone Valley (Live)” here.

“Dry Bone Valley” is the second single from Mastodon’s critically acclaimed Top 10 album The Hunter, and has just entered the Top 20 at radio this week. The song’s original video was created by noted fine artist Tim Biskup, a long-time friend who has amassed a cadre of loyal fans and collectors of his painting and sculpture. Watch that clip here.

Following her highly acclaimed fall tour, Feist announces a new string of state side spring and summer dates in support of Metals (Cherrytree/Interscope). Kicking things off with a two weekend stint at Coachella, Feist will make stops everywhere from Austin, TX, to the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City, a headlining spot at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL, and a set at the famed New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Metals ended 2011 on top of many ‘Best of 2011’ lists including Pitchfork, Spin, Rolling Stone and was chosen as the #1 Album of 2011 in the New York Times. Jon Pareles (New York Times) praised her “songs of heartache, solitude and eventual solace” as “…both handmade and subtly sophisticated…She traded pop gloss for pensive, lingeringly unresolved melodies and arrangements that crest unexpectedly from within, with her own taut electric guitar and apparitions of horns and voices summoning the tensions behind the beauty.” Last month she received a nomination for the prestigious Brit Award (Grammy equivalent) for the 2012 “International Female Artist” prize.

In addition, Feist is readying the release of her buzzed-about collaboration with Mastodon for Record Store Day. The limited-edition 7in single will be out on April 21st, 2012, and includes Mastodon covering Feist’s “A Commotion” and Feist returning the favor with a cover of “Black Tongue.”

“Incubus is stoked to be joinin’ the killer lineup at Rock On The Range this year. We’ll see y’all in Columbus,” comments Brandon Boyd from festival co-headliner Incubus.

“If you thought last time was a blast, then this time we are gonna blow your f#@*ing mind,” says co-headliner Rob Zombie.

To get the party started and based on the success of last year’s anniversary celebration, the weekend will kick off with the Friday Night 4Play, which is absolutely FREE with every ROCK ON THE RANGE weekend ticket purchase. The May 18 party will feature performances from Hairball, Foxy Shazam, Hells Bells and more.

Jägermeister also celebrates its fifth year as a key partner while welcoming twelve of the hottest up-and-coming bands to the in-your-face, up close and personal Jägermeister Music Stage. In all, ROCK ON THE RANGE features three stages, 44 bands, and three days of non-stop rock.

“There are so many incredible bands playing at ROTR this year, and every one of them is significant,” says Del Williams, co-executive producer of the event for Right Arm Entertainment. “I think this is the most interesting mix of bands that we have had at the festival. The Rangers already know that the weekend is going to be insanely great, but there will be surprises this year and a certain edge to the lineup that will likely create some of the most memorable moments in the 6 year history of Rock on the Range.”

To create the video for their new single “Dry Bone Valley,” Atlanta rock icons Mastodon have teamed up with noted fine artist Tim Biskup, a long-time friend who has amassed a cadre of loyal fans and collectors of his painting and sculpture, which boast complex color and design theories and a decidedly populist aesthetic. This collaboration with Mastodon marks Biskup’s first foray into film/video work in nearly six years.

“Doing video for ‘Dry Bone Valley’ was a dream project,” says Biskup, who also designed a hoodie for Mastodon in the past. “The band’s aesthetic has always been interesting and inspiring to me and I think what I do aligns with their music. When I pitched my idea, it was very vague – like a stream-of-consciousness poem – more than a traditional treatment. They were on board from the start and willing to trust me and let me experiment. It let me follow the same kind of path that I go down when I work on improvised paintings and sculptures. I love working on film, but finding people who trust me enough to just let me do my thing is tricky, so I’m thrilled to venture back in with this project.”

“Tim is an old friend of ours and one of my favorite artists,” says Mastodon’s Brann Dailor about working with Biskup. “The opportunity to work with him was unique and very special for us.”

The “Dry Bone Valley” video is “basically about waking up to find yourself being chased by death and having to reckon with dying and what that actually means to you,” Biskup explains. “It’s a life/death metaphor where the girl in the video goes from hunted to hunter. There’s a whole lot more going on metaphorically, and the symbolism goes very deep and is very specific, but I’ll leave the rest up to interpretation.” Watch the new video below:

“Dry Bone Valley” is the second single from Mastodon’s critically acclaimed album The Hunter, which found its way onto several Year End/Best Of critics’ lists, including those compiled by Rolling Stone, Spin, Revolver, and Decibel. Released on September 27th, The Hunter entered the Billboard Top 200 Album chart in the Top 10. The first single, “Curl of the Burl,” has been nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance.”

Mastodon and Talenthouse are giving fans a chance to design a “Dry Bone Valley” banner that will be featured on http://mastodonrocks.com and http://facebook.com/mastodon for a month. The winner will also receive a $1,000 prize, while two runners-up will get $500 and be featured in the band’s photo gallery as well. The designs will be chosen by fan votes, Mastodon, and Tim Biskup. Get more information at http://www.talenthouse.com/design-for-mastodon.

At present Mastodon are immersed in an extensive tour of Europe and Australia, which culminates in an appearance at the Soundwave Festival in March. The band is expected to tour the U.S. again this spring. Tour dates will be announced shortly.

“Seemingly dozens of subtly different metal subgenres into a singular pursuit…One burly, beastly adrenaline spike.” — Entertainment Weekly (A-)

“With each successive outing the Georgia quartet stomps farther away from that specific label…Big ideas and shape-shifting epics result in the band’s most efficient and instantly appealing album.” – The Washington Post
