“Gadhia and the rest of his dynamic and soul-searching band (guitarist Jacob Tilley, guitarist Eric Cannata, bassist Payam Doostzadeh and drummer Francois Comtois) find a way to get us lost in the late summer doldrums – tired of going to the pool or the pond every day and knowing that we don’t want what we’re doing/this leisure lifestyle of carefree excess to come to a close, but we’re also burnt out on it. We keep jumping into that water, but every splash makes us feel less and less.”

Check out MySpace Music’s latest “Transmissions” (http://www.myspace.com/transmissions) session featuring the highly-acclaimed collaboration Broken Bells, an outfit that features James Mercer (The Shins) and Brian Burton aka Danger Mouse. Since first emerging onto the music scene as a living, breathing entity in the music world last year, Broken Bells has been met with support and encouragement from the MySpace Music community and has received consistent exposure on the site through featured artist promotions and the debut of their latest music video for the single “The High Road.”

Broken Bells’ “Transmissions,” which was recorded and filmed at The Village in Santa Monica, CA, is now live at http://www.myspace.com/transmissions, and will allow all MySpace users to download free, stripped-back renditions of the songs performed and recorded during the session, including:

1) The Ghost Inside

2) The High Road

3) October

4) Vaporize

Each a long-time fan of the other’s work, Burton and Mercer first met face-to-face backstage at the 2004 Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen. The pair immediately hit it off and kept in touch over the prevailing half decade and in May 2008 seized the opportunity to finally collaborate on original music together. Once in the studio, the musical floodgates opened, an intuitive ease and seemingly ego-less telepathy producing an astonishing flow of new material over the course of a year. From more than 20 pieces of new music written and recorded, “Broken Bells” was assembled from 10 songs that coalesced together the most seamlessly.
