With downtown serving as a scenic backdrop, Okkervil River brought a serious rock show to the banks of Auditorium Shores. The rather large band fronted by Will Sheff recently released I Am Very Far and have been touring since its release in May. Not a stranger to Fun Fun Fun Fest (Okkervil River played in 2007), Sheff took charge of the stage thrashing about and swinging around his acoustic guitar. He was so into it at one point he slipped on stage only to later laugh it off and reminisce about a time he had ripped his pants open on stage. Sucking you in and taking you on an emotional journey, Okkervil River’s roots may now be based in Brooklyn but Austin is weaved into its soul.
