Danko Jones has officially announced the autumn leg of their 2010 concert tour featuring dates thoughout Europe supporting Ozzy, Korn, Guns N’ Roses (marking the fourth time this year that the international rockers will be touring with Guns N’ Roses) with a special stop to kick-off the NHL’s 2010-2011 season performing at the NHL Premiere game in Stockholm. Following, the band will headline a run of 30+ dates through November making stops throughout the Benelux, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain and the UK, scheduled to return to the U.S. later this winter for a series of shows to be announced later this year.

Danko Jones’ latest single, “Full of Regret,” off the band’s album Below the Belt (Bad Taste Records/Caroline) is currently featured on the new NHL 2011 and NHL Slapshot video games (EA Sports), which includes some of music’s coolest and heaviest hitting songs. The game soundtrack is rounded out by more than 15 songs from artists including Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Keys, Pantera and Megadeth. Obvious huge fans of the sport, Danko Jones are slated perform at one of the world’s biggest sporting events, the NHL’s 2010-2011 season opening NHL Premiere game at Globe Arena in Stockholm on October 9th – an international event televised to more than 400 million homes across the globe.

The band’s latest venture, a highly-stylized, film-like music video noir for the song “Full of Regret,” described as “one-part ‘Sabotage,’ one-part Guy Ritchie, one-part Quentin Tarantino,” stars Elijah Wood and Selma Blair with featured guest appearances by Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead) and Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Stooges). Shot in downtown Los Angeles, the video portrays Lemmy as a mob boss who hires hit men Elijah Wood and Selma Blair to take out the members of the band. Mike Watt plays the narrator as the action-packed story continues to unfold. View the entire video here: Full of Regret

Hailed by SPIN as “the world’s most entertaining hard rockers” and described by Maxim as “AC/DC sniffing glue with Motley Crue,” Danko Jones (vox/guitar), John Calabrese aka JC (bass), and Dan Cornelius (drums) have relentlessly toured the world over. Sharing stages with everyone from hard rock icons Motörhead and Sepultura to rock heavyweights Guns N’ Roses and Nickelback to musical legends the Rolling Stones, the Toronto trio may very well be one of the best, or worst, kept secrets in music today.

As OZZY OSBOURNE gears up for the August 14 launch of the 2010 OZZFest, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has released “Life Won’t Wait,” the second single from his worldwide smash Epic Records album SCREAM, which entered the charts in June in the Top Ten in more than 10 countries. The video for the hard-hitting and melodic life-affirming song is being directed by OZZY’s son, Jack Osbourne, and it was shot last week at various locations in Los Angeles.

At the same time, OZZY’s first-ever official free iTunes app–simply called OZZY–is available now and allows fans to enter the world of The Prince of Darkness. Users can experience music from OZZY’s 30-year solo career with access to a full discography featuring direct links to his iTunes page for a one-stop link to purchase of any song or album from his catalog. In addition, once downloaded, users can view music videos and photo galleries, access OZZY’s current concert dates and buy tickets for upcoming shows, or can instantly post comments and photos from shows they’ve just attended. A built-in fan wall also allows users to communicate with each other and search (by location) to find fellow OZZY fans in their town. The OZZY app is fully integrated with his official Twitter feed and has direct links to all of his other social networking sites as well as Ozzy’s official online store.

SCREAM is OZZY’s first album in three years and 10th studio album overall. He recorded most of it at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker. It was produced by OZZY and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for OZZY’s 2007 worldwide million-seller Black Rain. OZZY co-wrote all the songs on SCREAM, primarily with Churko. First single “Let Me Hear You Scream” hit #1 on both Active Rock charts (for two weeks) and #1 at Mainstream Rock (for 11 weeks). “Life Won’t Wait” is being cited in various reviews as one of the album’s standout tracks:

“Osbourne’s new band displays a tempo-shifting aptitude similar to vintage Black Sabbath – particularly on longer songs like “Let It Die,” “Diggin’ Me Down” and “I Want It More” – and is just as adept delivering gentler and more melodic pieces (‘Life Won’t Wait,’ ‘Time’).”
–Gary Graff, Billboard, July 31, 2010

“The lead single ‘Let Me Hear You Scream,’ with its mega-chorus and insane guitar solo should prove perfect for arena madness and there’s plenty of the former Black Sabbath frontman’s trademark trudging metal heard on songs like ‘Crucify’ the blow-down-the-doors rocker ‘Let it Die,’ and the exceedingly melodic standout ‘Life Won’t Wait.’”
–Kevin O’Hare, The Republican (Springfield, MA), June 21, 2010

For SCREAM, OZZY will embark on an 18-month world tour with his band: new guitar player Gus G., bassist Blasko, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman. His U.S. dates will kick off with an August 12 performance at the 70th anniversary of the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota before he launches this year’s OZZFest on August 14. The six OZZFest dates will feature the main stage line-up with full sets from OZZY, Mötley Crüe, Rob Halford, DevilDriver and Nonpoint. Second stage headliners and six-time OZZFest veterans Black Label Society will be joined by Drowning Pool, Kingdom of Sorrow, and Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Saviours and Kataklysm. Each OZZFest date will include 13 bands on two stages with music beginning at 1:00 PM. In addition, concert-goers can once again visit the OZZFest “Village of the Damned” featuring a mix of interactive activities, shopping and entertainment throughout the venue concourses.

SCREAM–OZZY OSBOURNE’s first album in three years and 10th studio album overall–has entered the charts in the Top Ten in seven countries. Beyond earning the #1 slot on the charts in Greece, SCREAM’s chart entries include: U.S., #4; Finland, #3; Japan #4 (international chart, #11 on combined chart); Norway, #5; Canada, #4; andGermany, #7. In his native England, SCREAM is at #12; it also is #11 in Australia. The acclaimed album (see quotes below) was released June 22 via Epic Records, with first single “Let Me Hear You Scream” now #1 on both Active Rock charts and still #1 at Mainstream Rock for the 5th week.

Just before SCREAM was released, the rock icon hosted a Sunday afternoon in-store CD signing at Amoeba Music in Los Angeles (June 20). The first 600 fans who purchased a copy were also given a free ticket to that night’s 10:00 PM House of Blues show. OZZY and his band–new guitar player Gus G., bassist Blasko, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman–raised the roof with a red-hot performance encompassing new material and his many classics.

The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded most of SCREAM at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker. It was produced by OZZY and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for OZZY’s 2007 worldwide million-seller Black Rain. OZZY co-wrote all the songs, primarily with Churko.

OZZY will embark on an 18-month world tour in support of SCREAM. His U.S. dates will kick off with an August 12 performance at the 70th anniversary of the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota before he launches this year’s OZZFest on August 14. The six OZZFest dates will feature the main stage line-up with full sets from Ozzy, Mötley Crüe, Rob Halford, DevilDriver and Nonpoint. Second stage headliners and six-time OZZFest veterans Black Label Society will be joined by Drowning Pool,Kingdom of Sorrow, and Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Saviours and Kataklysm. Each OZZFest date will include 13 bands on two stages with music beginning at 1:00 PM. In addition, concert-goers can once again visit the OZZFest “Village of the Damned” featuring a mix of interactive activities, shopping and entertainment throughout the venue concourses.

Here’s some early critical praise for SCREAM:

“Oz is as sharp as a dagger and at the top of his headbanging skills for Scream. His voice is clear, and he belts every song with conviction. The opening tune, ‘Let It Die,’ sets the bar. This is metal music that begs for arena play, where the sounds of heavy bass, cowbell wallops and guitar power chords can expand. Ozzy’s vocals are as good as they get as he mixes his controlled scream with funky swagger. That sweat-and-danger attitude carries into ‘Let Me Hear You Scream,’ which combines thrash metal with a tempo that would allow ‘Scream’ dance-hall success…This is heavy, stairway-to-hell music that demands more volume than your ears should hear.”
–Dan Aquilante, New York Post , June 15, 2010

“The highlight is the fist-pumping first single, ‘Let Me Hear You Scream,’ on which, against a blitzkrieg of snarling guitars, the Ozzster works up a real rebel yell.”
–People Magazine, July 5, 2010

” Metal master Ozzy Osbourne thrashes, roars and rocks on a strong batch of tunes…”
—Mario Tarradell, Dallas Morning News, June 21, 2010.

“…a glorious, imaginative effort by by Osbourne, quite possibly his best album release since 1981′s Diary of a Madman.” (4 stars)
—Patrick Prince, Goldmine Magazine, July 2, 2010

“…this is the most invigorated and relevant Ozzy’s sounded in years…cuts like “Crucify” and “Soul Sucker” [are]… bristling with a brutality and energy that rockers half Ozzy’s age have trouble mustering…his best album in more than 15 years.”

Austin, TX’s metal luminaries The Sword are kicking it into high gear as the release of their highly anticipated third full-length Warp Riders (August 24th; Kemado Records) rapidly approaches. The band has finally revealed the album’s artwork and will be releasing additional visual companions in the form of an upcoming picture disc and an epic video trilogy.

With a narrative arc that the band describes as “a psychedelic space opera that explores the temporal themes of death and rebirth,” it’s only fitting that the record’s cover art is equally mind melting. Paying homage to authors that inspired the album’s lyrics, artist Dan McPharlin created an image in the tradition of classic science fiction book covers. The Sword will also release a limited edition hexagon-shaped picture disc 12 inch single for “(The Night Sky Cried) Tears of Fire.”

Fans that are eagerly awaiting to hear the new material will have their thirst quenched on July 6th, when first single “Tres Brujas” will be let loose online. The track is also the first part of a video trilogy helmed by former Sword collaborators Artificial Army, which will launch in August. The second and third chapters of the saga will be for “Lawless Lands” and “Night City.”

The guys will also have the honor of being the sole opener for Ozzy Osbourne at the iTunes Roundhouse Festival in London on July 3rd. Their set will be recorded and available on iTunes in early July.
