This year there has been much talk about the Twins of Evil tour- two of the “evilest” men in rock touring together: Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. I had never seen either play, so I was stoked to check them out. Manson was opening the date in Camden. There was a large black curtain in front of the stage that remained up even as the music started. Finally the curtain dropped and revealed the stage. Darkness, crazy lights, inverted crosses- exactly what you would expect. Manson emerged from the shadows while his band played one of their new songs, “Hey Cruel World” off of Born Villain. The song is classic MM, soft and loud at the same time, with that voice you can’t confuse for anyone else.

Manson isn’t exactly as wiry as he is in my brain, he shows a bit of that age, but he still looks like what you would expect. He came out wearing all black with some kind of google/mask situation covering most of his face. Every person was on their feet loving every second of it. He changed microphones often: at one point having a huge knife attached, then a flashlight, and more I couldn’t really see from my seat.

They ran through most of the songs you would expect them to play; “Disposable Teens,” “mOBSCENE,” “The Dope Show,” “Personal Jesus,” “Coma White”… the stage was incredible and constantly changing. Manson himself would often change outfits and masks. At one point came out on a pulpit. Another time in a pope outfit. Here is the thing though, it all felt a little…off to me. He just seemed tired. At one point he said, “in all the reviews put in parentheses that Manson fell over drunk. And I am motherfuckers.” When he said that, it made more sense. It felt off but apparently it was because he was wasted. Talking between songs wasn’t garbled. At one point he said, “Can you hear the words coming out of my mouth.” The answer was no, not really.

“Sweet Dreams” was a definite highlight, and it was pretty cool. A single bulb dropped down from the ceiling. He sang into it at times, and other times swung it out over the crowd. Dramatic. He ended with “The Beautiful People” and for a few minutes, he felt mostly on his game.

Rob Zombie was up next, another huge curtain was hanging from the ceiling. But this time when the sheet dropped a fire breathing robot was on the other side. Awesome. His band was already ripping into Jesus Frankenstein and he came out looking like a cast member from Mad Max. Tall hat, long robes, long dreads, mask covering his face and skeleton arms extending off of his own arms. His microphone stand was a huge skeleton.

The energy was immediately so different. Rob Zombie is an animal on stage. Never staying in one place for long, running from platform to platform. Head banging while dust literally flew off of his hair. And the fire. I love shows with fire, and they made great use of it. “Superbeast,” “Meet The Creeper,” and the hit “Living Dead Girl” were up next. His background was huge LED screens that showed old horror movies and anime porn.

At various times huge robots came out and danced on stage with the band. Another time it looked like he was riding in one. He spent a lot of time talking with the audience, and at one point walked along the barricade holding hands along the way. Rob Zombie does not look or move like a man who has been doing this for 20+ years. His portion of the show was good, and it just seemed like fun.

A personal favorite “More Human Than Human” was next and the place lost their shit collectively. Theme for an Angry Red Planetplayed with LED signs that said “Mars Needs Women” flashed across the stage. “Sick Bubble Gum,” “Scum of the Earth,” “Pussy Liquor” and the White Zombie hit, “Thunder Kiss ’65″ were next. The energy never waned and Zombie never stopped moving. The Alice Cooper song “School’s Out” was next, and they finished up with “Dragula,” Rob Zombie’s biggest commercial hit.

Although they call this the Twins of Evil Tour, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson could not have had more different shows. Manson wasn’t nearly as fun, but his fans loved it just the same. Zombie definitely puts on a hellofashow. He brought his love for horror to his show, but never forget to make it fun for everyone. You know what you are getting into when you go see those two perform. I think the biggest surprise for me was how damn good Rob Zombie was. Manson was having a bit of an off night, which happens to everyone. All in all, there was something for everyone there.

It had to happen. Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie are hitting the road together this fall, co-headlining the “Twins of Evil” tour. Debauchery, theatrics, ghoulish imagery, and a full-on assault of all the senses are what’s in store for fans when the tour kicks off, first in the U.S. and then with a 10-country sweep through Europe.

Kicking off September 28 when both Zombie and Manson co-headline the first day of the Desert Uprising Festival in Phoenix, Arizona, expect defiant rock’n'roll showmanship in the form of these unholy rollers with the first U.S. date wrapping in Dallas on Halloween, October 31. For ticket on sale and purchasing info, log onto or

“Finally! Why did the most obvious tour take so long to happen? Who knows? Who cares? It’s happening now,” stated Zombie. “If good taste is the chief enemy of great art, then we should be able to fill the Louvre with this fucking tour. Be prepared for something wicked this way a-coming.”

“I have sympathy for the Whore of Babylon that gave birth to these twins of evil, and this abomination of a tour,” says Marilyn Manson. “There is no babysitter, and there is no repairing her womb. If Rob Zombie doesn’t fuck you up, than I surely will.” “Hide all drugs and firearms… I’m coming to town,” Manson stated.

J Devil, the DJ alter ego of KoRn’s frontman Jonathan Davis, will support the Manson/Zombie dates with his chaotic electro-metal. “I like to think of JDevil as the ‘anti-christ’ of EDM,” he said. “To play alongside Zombie and Manson is going to be a fucking sinister night all around, and an unbelievable theatrical experience. I can’t wait.”

Marilyn Manson’s eighth full-length album Born Villain debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, also grabbing the #1 spots on both the Heavy Album Chart and the Independent Album Chart. “This is Manson at his best,” says ARTISTdirect. “Elegantly, he slices throats and puts up a middle finger to everyone once more.”

For the “Twins of Evil” tour, Zombie and his band of maniacs – John 5/guitar, Piggy D/bass and drummer Ginger Fish – will bring their elaborate, multi-media production, complete with hair-raising theatrics, animatronic robots, oversized LED screens, a non-stop collage of psychotronic monster film clips, a spectacular light show, a gigantic robot with flames shooting out of its body, pyrotechnics, insane guitar riffs and vicious beats. On August 7, prior to the kick off of the “Twins of Evil” tour, Mondo Sex Head, an album featuring new and unique remixes of Rob Zombie classics by some of today’s top DJs, including KoRn’s Jonathan “JDevil” Davis, Photek, the Bloody Beetroots, †††, Kraddy, Drumcorps, and Ki: Theory will be released (Universal Music Enterprises/UMe). Fans can download one of the new songs, “Thunder Kiss ’65 (J-Devil Number of the Beast Remix),” from iTunes.

ROB ZOMBIE and MEGADETH have just announced a co-headlining tour guaranteed to raise the temperature on the planet. The trek, which marks the first time the two bands have toured together, kicks off Friday, May 11 in Holmdel, NJ and encompasses high-profile appearances at several rock festivals, including Rock On The Range and Rocklahoma. Rob Zombie will headline Rocklahoma, co-line (with Incubus) Rock On The Range, and will close all shows on the Megadeth dates. The tour wraps Saturday, March 26 at Rocklahoma – a list of confirmed dates is below. To purchase tickets, visit .

The tour will come on the heels of Megadeth’s critically acclaimed return of the traveling festival Gigantour, created and curated by frontman Dave Mustaine. Rave reviews have poured in for the festival, which also features Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil. “The return of Gigantour, a nicely curated package tour of heavy metal bands, is just one more step in a great run underway by Megadeth,” wrote the Boston Globe. “It was a smart and well-paced show, one that illuminated metal’s various angles (1/31/12).”

Twenty-eleven also marked the release of Megadeth’s 13th album, the appropriately titled TH1RT3EN. Released November 1 on Roadrunner Records, the album debuted at #11 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and #1 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart. The album also landed on international charts including Top 10 placements in Argentina, Finland, Korea and Japan. Megadeth – Mustaine, drummer Shawn Drover, guitarist Chris Broderick and bassist David Ellefson – also received their tenth Grammy nomination for this project, earning a “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance” nomination for their single “Public Enemy #1.” The “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance” category was eerily, category #13.

This will be Rob Zombie’s first concert tour since last summer’s “Hell on Earth” co-headline trek with Slayer. Zombie spent last fall and winter shooting his sixth feature film, “The Lords of Salem” that he wrote and directed and is making with the producers of the “Paranormal Activity” franchise. With principal photography completed, the film is currently in post-production.

Never one to play it safe, Zombie – with guitarist John 5, bassist Piggy D, and Ginger Fish on drums – will bring his legendary stage show out in full force on these dates. Audiences will get what they expect from a Rob Zombie show – an amped-up, non-stop barrage of sin, sex and Satan guaranteed to rip your face off, a true rock and roll spectacle at its finest.

With more than 15 million albums sold, seven Grammy nominations, the helming of five major motion pictures (including the #1 record-breaking “Halloween”), dozens of music videos, TV shows and last summer’s strangely celebrated “Woolite” TV commercial where he showed the hidden terrors of doing laundry, Zombie is truly a force to be reckoned with in today’s entertainment landscape. For over 25 years, his unique meld of horror and hard rock has influenced his sound as a musician, and his vision as a director and writer. Plans are for a new Rob Zombie album to be completed later this year.

Comedian Jay Oakerson (seen on Comedy Central) will also be on hand to deliver an onslaught of unbridled awesomeness and raunchy rock n roll comedy.

The ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL will be the first major city tour for KORN in support of their 9th studio album, tentatively titled Korn III – Remember Who You Are. The new album marks the return of producer Ross Robinson, who worked with Korn on their first two releases, Korn and Life is Peachy. Lead vocalist Jonathan Davis has said that the new material matches the pure raw emotion of Korn’s early releases while the current touring band has never been tighter. “It’s the perfect mix,” says Davis, “and Mayhem is the perfect place to set it off. We can’t wait for the fans to hear it!”

ROB ZOMBIE is gearing up for the February 2nd release of his Roadrunner / Loud & Proud debut Hellbilly Deluxe 2. Over the course of the past 18 years, Zombie has sold more than 15 million records as a solo artist and with his former band, White Zombie. Says Zombie, “It’s been over a decade since my last tour with Korn, so this pairing is long overdue. Mayhem will be one amazingly destructive way to spend the summer. ”

The ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL is produced by Rockstar Taste of Chaos organizer John Reese, Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and Creative Artists Agency. The trio has made Mayhem a standout on the summer concert circuit by following the proven model of utilizing sponsorship to deliver a lower ticket price and an enhanced concert experience. This year sees them joining forces once again with ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK as the title sponsor.

“When we started this tour three years ago, one of our primary goals was to develop new artists,” say Lyman and Reese. “So we’re extremely proud of Five Finger Death Punch, who were a side stage band during year one and are now a main stage act. Mayhem has quickly become a powerful brand by assembling a monster-sized lineup of heavy hitting artists and unparalleled excitement at an affordable price. It’s a tour of not-to-be-missed moments. The fans recognize this and have responded.”

Live Nation is co-producer of the tour and will promote the festival nationally.

“The Mayhem team has done it again. The Mayhem Festival has become one of the premier traveling music festivals of the summer drawing more than 600,000 hard rock music fans to our amphitheaters in 2008 and 2009,” said Jason Garner, Chief Executive Officer of Global Music at Live Nation. “With Rob Zombie and Korn, Mayhem 2010 is sure to have another huge summer.”

LAMB OF GOD just received a Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance” for “Set To Fail” from their most recent release, Wrath, which entered Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 2.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH’s current album, War Is the Answer, debuted at # 7 on the Billboard charts. They were on the first-ever ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL in 2007 and have since established themselves as one of America’s most popular hard rock/ metal bands.

In addition to catching their favorite bands, Mayhem-goers can enjoy a plethora of festival activities, including playing the newest video games, perusing vendors, attending autograph signing sessions and a slew of other interactive activities that enhance the concert experience.

ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK will be sampling their products and providing great surprises for attendees. Additional sponsors include Jagermeister, The (Device Personalization Company), Harley Davidson, Century Media and Metal Injection. Additional sponsor details will be announced shortly.

FUEL-TV and Revolver Magazine (who will produce the Official Tour Program) have signed on as official ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL media partners. Additional sponsors will be announced soon.

“In its third year the ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL has become our marquee music presentation,” says Mike Kelso, Marketing Director Rockstar Energy Drink. “Huge crowds and great bands make for an amazing summer road show and Rockstar is proud to bring it to music fans throughout the country.”
