Last week, Green Day was in New York City for the CMJ festival. No, they didn’t play but merely stopped by to check out a few bands at the Studio at Webster Hall. Then Billie Joe Armstrong showed up to a party for the radio show Little Stevens Underground Garage. This morning, it was officially announced that the Bay area rockers would be playing a super intimate show (compared to the arenas they headline and sell out) on Thursday October 27th at the Studio.

A few years ago when we used to work in the evil music industry, we had an intern (I know! That was awesome, right?) who told us about this band from around New Brunswick, NJ called What About Frank?. We checked them out and loved the band. Then we didn’t hear from them for a little while. Meanwhile we started hearing about a band that was blowing up called The Parlor Mob. Little did we know that What About Frank? WAS NOW The Parlor Mob!!

The band signed a label and management deal, released their official debut album And You Were A Crow and toured like crazy. We love these guys but it’s been WAY TOO LONG since we’ve heard some new music from the band. That changes tonight! You see, The Parlor Mob is getting ready to release their new album Dogs on October 11th. So why is tonight important? Because the band will be playing BRAND NEW songs for the FIRST TIME AT THE STUDIO AT WEBSTER HALL!

Pick up your tickets here.

Tonight, New York City rock station 101.9 WRXP hosts a Vitamin Water Uncapped concert at the Studio At Webster Hall (tickets). The new concert series, held on the last Friday of every month, will feature some of the best music that the New York City area has to offer. Headlining the show is everyone’s favorite indie rock band, The Dig. Touring relentlessly behind their album Electric Toys, The Dig have played with The Postelles, Dashboard Confessional, Editors, The Antlers, Glasvegas and Beady Eye all in the past year and a half. If you haven’t seen The Dig live and you go to New York City rock shows, there must be something wrong with you (only 1/4 kidding here). Do yourself a favor and download “You’re Already Gone”.

Cleveland-born Brooklyn implants The Kickdrums are carving out a place for themselves in the scene with a unique style that sets them apart from their peers. Combining elements from soul, alternative rock and hip hop, just to name a few, these guys don’t spend too much time in one single genre for very long. Following up two solid well-praised releases, the band will be dropping their latest creation,”Meet Your Ghost” onto the masses this Tuesday, June 28th. If your ears have not been subjected to such awesomeness yet, be sure to check out “Perfect World” from the album featuring Rza of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Despite only existing for a year and a half, Toronto’s Young Empires is a leader in their self described genre of “world beat haute rock”. The trio of Robert Aaron Ellingson, Jake Palahnuk and Matthew Vlahovich have received international acclaim for their infectious hooks and high-energy sets. Spinner described their emergence as “almost fully formed with their rock star moves well-honed and their cred firmly cemented.” The band’s also been turning heads in the fashion industry with their song “Glory of the Night” (released on Parisian fashion/music label Kitsune Maison 10) and the track “Against the Wall” has been featured on a viral fashion video for NYLON TV.

Tonight, Young Empires stop by the Studio At Webster Hall. You can pick up your tickets here or at the door.

Tonight at the Studio at Webster Hall, you’ll get a show that has the sound and feel of a show for the main room at Webster Hall but with the intimacy of the Studio! Brooklyn experimental electronic rockers Home Video will bring their eclectic live show to the Studio right before prepping to head out to SXSW in Austin.

Home Video’s been raved about from press (Rolling Stone named them as an “Artist To Watch”) to fellow bands like Blonde Redhead who enjoyed their music so much after sharing a bill with them, they chose them as openers for their US tour.
