Night Covers, the latest EP from The Watson Twins to be released April 18th, 2011 is a collection of cover songs, pulling from influences and favorites spanning the last five decades. Covers include songs from PJ Harvey, Bill Withers, Sade, The Turtles, Eurythmics and The Black Keys. Sonically the recordings reflect each of The Watson Twins previous albums including the low-fi experimental folk of Southern Manners, lush ‘Laurel Canyon’ sound of Fire Songs and the soulful musings of Talking To You, Talking To Me.
Although the original songs range greatly in style, the sisters make them uniquely their own by adding their sultry signature harmonies and crooning vocal melodies. Recorded in a week, Night Covers has a live and intimate feel with the players showing great skill and gentle restraint, weaving a sonic landscape where the sisters are right at home.
In the coming months, The Watson Twins will be back on the road with the honor of opening for Alexi Murdoch and Amos Lee along with headlining dates. Expect their sets to include performances from their upcoming release as well as classics from all three of their previous albums.
