January 30, 2009 drainu182 6

I remember when Kings of Leon were in the mix with all those other NYC bands back in the day like The Strokes and The Mooney Suzuki. Who knew that they’d blow up like they have. Last night (1/29), they played a sold out show at Madison Square Garden and everyone creamed their pants, I swear. Check out the videos below the setlist (Not in the correct order, chill out you hipsters).
Setlist:
Crawl
Taper Jean Girl

Kings of Leon to play Reading and Leeds Festival?

November 18, 2008 drainu182 0

The folks over at Virtual Festivals are reporting that Kings of Leon might headline the Reading Festival and Leeds Festival next year. VF’s source said:

“Kings Of Leon are definitely playing. They last played Reading and Leeds in 2007, second on the bill, and really should have been headliners then. They blew (headliners) Razorlight away.

“They love playing UK festivals and are really keen to get back with the new album (‘Only By The Night’).”

But the festivals organizers, …

Glastonbury hates Pink Floyd, loves Kings of Leon

October 8, 2008 drainu182 0

Apparently, one of Richard Wright’s (Pink Floy’d’s keyboardist) final wishes was to play an outdoor festival like Glastonbury according to Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. Unfortunately, Glastonbury’s organizers/bookers wouldn’t book the band because it was on short notice and they’d have to move a headliner. I guess Pink Floyd isn’t that big of a band and Jay-Z wouldn’t have liked it if he got bumped. Glastonbury booker Emily Eavis (her dad Michael’s started Glastonbury Festival) said that they considered …

Kings of Leon 101.9 RXP Sessions

September 29, 2008 drainu182 0

101.9 RXP is a radio station that debuted a little over 7 months ago in the NY area. They play a real good mix of rock from indy to alternative to hard rock. You’ll hear Tom Petty, Interpol, Vampire Weekend, STP and Nirvana in an hour. They don’t seem to play the same songs over and over and they don’t really have a consistent playlist of songs but more of artists. They also have famed DJ/A&R man/music afficionado Matt Pinfield …

Kings of Leon played Letterman and Webster Hall last night (Videos)

September 24, 2008 drainu182 0

The Perv isn’t the biggest fan of Kings of Leon. We remember The Bucket and those shows opening for The Strokes but we liked the Kings better when they were in the movie Almost Famous. Regardless, the boys played Sex on Fire last night before their sold out show at Webster Hall. Apparently celebrities love the band too as groupies Drew Barrymore, the dudes from Gossip Girl and Danny Masterson were all there to look hip, I mean enjoy the …

Radiohead and Kings of Leon (yawn) played All Points West in Jersey

August 11, 2008 drainu182 0

If you went to the All Points West Festival this weekend and didn’t watch Radiohead, you pretty much wasted your time and money. This festival should’ve been called “Radiohead-fest” because most of the other bands pretty much were no-names, has-beens or never-will-bes. I mean Kings of Leon played and Duffy and The Duke Spirit but could you justify dropping over 80 bucks a day on this crap? I saw Radiohead play in Liberty State Park before and I think I spent under 40 bucks for that show. 40 dollars less and a lot less crap. Plus getting to Jersey City is a pain in the ass. It has more one-way streets than Manhattan and Philly combined. And if you think that you’re better off taking the train or light rail, I laugh in your face. Ha Ha. This festival was run/promoted by Goldenvoice who do Coachella (EXCELLENT FESTIVAL) so you’d think that it’d be a better show but come on.. Duffy? Rodrigo y Gabriela? Wow dudes, you need to at least put Chuck Berry on like Virgin Mobile Fest did. Watch the videos because they’re free here.
