Nearly two years ago, Fanfarlo closed their tour at New York’s Webster Hall with a man suspended in the air above the London quintet performing Houdini’s hanging straightjacket escape emulating the act featured in the band’s “The Walls Are Coming Down” video. The setting was much more placid but still as magical Thursday night at Mercury Lounge as the indie pop band returned to New York to a sold-out crowd. …

Young The Giant 1/20 Mercury Lounge NYC

January 23, 2011 drainu182 1

The southern California rock band Young The Giant played the sold-out Mercury Lounge in New York City on Thursday night. The crowd was filled with as many industry people who love the band as fans. Hank & Cupcakes is a sweet treat.

When I walked in mid set of Hank & Cupcakes at the Mercury Lounge, I thought it would take me a while to get into the music and vibe. That was indeed not the case. Within thirty seconds of walking in I was moving right along with the rest of the crowd. Hank & Cupcakes is cheekily fun band with charisma that projects of the stage. The Brooklyn based drum …
